Assessment for Learning
Enduring Understandings and Essential Questions

Math Grade 10 Academic

Overall Expectations
Quadratic Functions
By the end of the course, students will:
•       solve quadratic equations
•       determine, through investigation, the relationships between the graphs and the equations of quadratic functions
•       determine, through investigation, the basic properties of quadratic functions
•       solve problems involving quadratic functions

Analytic Geometry
By the end of the course, students will:
•       model and solve problems involving the intersection of two straight lines
•       solve problems involving the analytic geometry concepts of line segments
•       verify geometric properties of triangles and quadrilaterals, using analytic geometry

By the end of the course, students will:
•       develop the primary trigonometric ratios, using the properties of similar triangles
•       solve trigonometric problems involving right triangles
•       solve trigonometric problems involving acute triangles

Enduring Understanding:
Select from acquired skills and concepts the appropriate ones that can be used to address a problem.  (math teacher prepared to accept different approaches and/or methods to address a problem successfully.)

Being able to use real world data to understand the transformation of linear and quadratic functions.  predicted with mathematics.

Essential Questions:

Is there a pattern?
What model fits the pattern?
