Subject:West Hill Receives "Mood Walk" Funding
During a snowy Friday in February, students from West Hill Secondary School in Owen Sound took part in their first "Mood Walk".

According to the Mood Walks province-wide initiative, which is a partnership of the Canadian Mental Health Association, Hike Ontario and Conservation Ontario,  "Mood Walks promotes both physical and mental wellness by reducing barriers and creating new opportunities for young people to be physically active and get outside."

A group of 20 students, 2 teachers and community partners visited the trails of the Bruce Ski Club in Hepworth to spend the morning snowshoeing.  All had a great time enjoying the trails, some warm apple cider and great company.

It is thanks to the support of the Bruce Ski Club and the Canadian Mental Health Association that this event was offered to those interested at no cost.  Forty-one community organizations across Ontario were selected by the Canadian Mental Health Association to deliver innovative hiking programs for youth.  Of those forty-one organizations, West Hill was the only school selected!

The school plans to organize other hiking events this spring for any students who are interested.
