Subject:Students hold Bake Sale for Fort McMurray
To:
Some students at John Diefenbaker Senior School in Hanover recently put their baking talents to good use in support of the victims of the wildfire in Fort McMurray, Alberta. As part of a K level math project, students applied their learning to a real life situation through calculating the area affected by the disaster.  After viewing a video of Fort McMurray and then drawing comparisons to local areas that the students could relate to, the class decided to do something to help by organizing a bake sale.  Some of the goodies were made in class by the students, while others were donated by staff and parents.  On Thursday, June 2nd, 2016, everything came together in a successful bake sale, which raised $155 to help the people of Fort McMurray!
