Subject:Beavercrest ME to WE Spreads Kindness
To:
During Bullying Prevention and Awareness Week, the ME to WE group at Beavercrest Community School in Markdale decided to focus on building peace, and promoting kindness and diversity while also educating students about bullying and conflict.  Students and staff believe that their school environment and culture are built on embracing differences, accepting and appreciating the uniqueness of all, and treating others with kindness and respect.  There is a bulletin board in the school where kind messages are spread.  Each classroom has a board of class compliments on its door as a reminder to treat others with care and use kind words.

On November 20th, the United Nation's Universal Children's Day, the ME to WE group at Beavercrest chose to go silent.

Our voices are a powerful tool for social change—and so is our silence.

By taking a vow of silence in solidarity with those who go unheard, we can prove just how big of a difference we can make.

Education is the cornerstone of a sustainable community and for every $50 raised, one child will be able to go to school, giving them the tools to advocate for their basic rights and secure a livelihood.

All donations collected went toward the WE Villages Education Pillar of Impact.  With the support of the Beavercrest school community, a total of $636 was raised, thus providing 12 children with the opportunity to go to school.  The students and staff are to be commended for all their support!
