Subject:Ontario’s Rural Education Strategy
Bluewater District School Board trustees and Director of Education Alana Murray provided input on Ontario’s Rural Education Strategy at a regional consultation session hosted by the  Ministry of Education on Thursday, May 25, 2017 in Markdale.  Several municipal and community representatives were also in attendance to participate in a table discussion format, which focused on ways to best support rural and remote communities and ensure that students have access to a full range of learning opportunities.  A well-attended session for members of the public was also held later in the evening.

“It was wonderful to see so many people share their knowledge, insight and passion about the issues facing rural education.  This is an excellent opportunity to let the provincial government know how the current policies affect us in Grey and Bruce Counties,” says Bluewater District School Board Trustee Jane Thomson, who attended both the afternoon and evening sessions.  
Those who were unable to attend the public session are invited to provide their feedback to the Ministry of Education by Friday, June 9 at the following link:
