The Human Resources Services department promotes excellence in human resources management to support Bluewater District School Board in achieving the following strategic priorities:        
  • Ensure the well-being of students and staff in a safe supportive environment for teaching, learning and working
  • Be accountable for the responsible stewardship of resources
Human Resources Services department staff work diligently to provide the most effective and efficient supports for employees throughout their employment with Bluewater District School Board.

Group photo image of members of Human Resources ServicesBeginning with the recruitment process, the department is actively involved in all hiring in Bluewater.  Staff work closely with departments, schools and the board’s Communications Officer to attract the highest quality candidates for each position.

Once hired, employees can expect an exemplary onboarding program.  Depending on the employee group, central training programs are held to support a successful transition into their new roles.  

The group works collaboratively and cooperatively, both as a team and with other departments, to problem solve, foster clear communication, and align processes and services so that all employees have a positive working experience in Bluewater District School Board.

Some other key areas of focus in the Human Resources Services department include:
  • Leading the staffing process for all employee groups;
  • Providing leadership and guidance to administrators, managers and supervisors with regular training and professional development, planning and coordination of employee training across teams, and assisting with human resources services related tasks in all departments;
  • Supporting employee well-being in the areas of occupational health and safety, organizational health and wellness, and employee assistance and return-to-work programs;
  • Managing human resources services data and systems to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and confidentiality in the collection and use of employee data to perform human resources services tasks, such as benefit administration, leave requests, offence declarations, and teacher and early childhood educator certification;
  • Supporting superintendents, administrators, managers and supervisors with personnel issues; and
  • Supporting positive employee and labour relations, and collaborative professionalism with regular staffing and labour relations meetings, and effective communication with union groups.
