•     Home and School (Moved by: Jean Sullivan)

HOME AND SCHOOL

This policy was brought to the committee through the cyclical review process. This policy recognizes that parent involvement in Home and School Associations plays an important role in schools even though the School Community Council is the official voice of parents in the school system.

RECOMMENDATION

That the Policy committee endorse Policy BP 1622-D “Home and School” as previously approved by the Board.
CARRIED

•     Accommodation Review (Moved by: Marg Gaviller)

ACCOMMODATION REVIEW

The Boards’ policy on Student Accommodation was brought to the November 21, 2006 meeting of the Policy Committee to approve time lines for the policy to be reviewed so that it reflected the newly published Ministry Guidelines on Pupil Accommodation. The Ministry process requires that the Board establish a Generic School Valuation Framework and that through that process there would be consultation with School Community Councils. The framework suggested is very complex and it was therefore being recommended that a committee be established comprised of a group of people representative of business and municipal leaders, parents and board officials to facilitate the development of this framework.

RECOMMENDATION

That the Policy Committee approve the establishment of a committee to develop a generic School Valuation Framework comprised of representatives from business and municipal leaders, parents and board officials and it be considered as the review process.
