The Policy Committee received and discussed the following reports and policies.

•     Child Maltreatment (Suspected)
•     Aboriginal Self-Identification
•     Inclement Weather
•     Recruitment Posters

The Policy Committee recommended that policy BP 6850-D “Child Maltreatment (Suspected) – Reporting” be approved by the Board as amended and that the new policy BP 6302-D “Aboriginal Self Identification” be referred to the Board for approval.  The Committee reviewed a draft policy BP 2807-D “Inclement Weather” and recommended that it be referred for review.

The item pertaining to Recruitment Posters was brought back to the Committee and it was reported that all secondary schools were contacted and that in the schools that do display military recruitment posters there were no issues or concerns reported. Discussion focused on the appropriateness of certain types of posters and whether it was recruitment or promotion of the military.  Further information will be gathered and the motion to continue to provide the option to display Military Career Posters was tabled.


•     THAT Bluewater District School Board receive the Policy Committee report.
•     THAT Bluewater District School Board approve Policy BP 6850-D “Child Maltreatment (Suspected) as amended.
•     THAT Bluewater District School Board approve Policy BP 6302-D “Aboriginal Self-Identification”.
