Updates:

The Educational Assistant Apprenticeship Graduation ceremony took place at the beginning of May.
The CODE Audit Team came to Bluewater in December and again in May to check the progress of the CODE project.  The auditors acknowledged the work, improvement and growth that has occurred in the school teams.
Karen Moss, Area Resource Teacher for the Western Area, is retiring and Aimee Vereecke, Area Resource Teacher for the Southeast Area, is returning to West Hill.
The role of Teacher of the Deaf and Teacher of the Blind will be combined.  Sherry Harrison, who is qualified in both areas, will be assuming this position.
We have received a memo from the Ministry regarding Applied Behaviour Analysis for students on the Autism Spectrum.  The memo indicates that the Ministry has planned to address half or more of the recommendations in the report “Autism Ontario’s Response to Special Education Transformation: The Report of the Co-Chairs with the Recommendations of the Working Table on Special Education”.  More information will follow.
SEAC will write a letter to the Minister of Education addressing the lack of funding and how it has impacted our board.  The letter will also address SEAC’s concern with funding in the light of the legislated attendance of students to 18 years of age.

Presentations:
Dr. Brenda McLister, Psychologist, gave an overview of the Ontario Psychological Association Project.  Discussion took place regarding the OPA project and psychological services in general.
Carolynn Dyer gave an update regarding the IEP engine changes.  IPRC forms are now linked to the IEP so information is consistent on both the IEP and the IPRC.
