Carolynn spoke about the LRT/Principal symposium held on September 6, 2007.  The guest speaker spoke about IEPs, the IEP review and the common trends.  The second speaker, Todd Cunningham, was very motivational.  Todd spoke about his learning disability and how the best placement for learning disabled students is being included in the regular classroom.
During the summer 74 educational assistants attended a two day training session on Autism provided by the Geneva Centre.  There were also 14 principals trained regarding PPM 140, Incorporating Methods of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) into Programs for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).  A 4 day training session occurred for teachers.  The Board sent a team including area resource teachers, psychology, and speech-language pathologists.  We are currently working on an implementation plan for PPM 140 part of which has started with the training.  We are also providing 4 days of positive behaviour support training for teachers of developmental learners, elementary behaviour, learning resource, Section 23, SALEP and area resource and a half-day session for principals.
We have received our results from the IEP review and are planning to implement the recommended changes.
Speech-language service has changed because of the dissolved partnership with CCAC.  A meeting has occurred with all Board and CCAC speech pathologists and the three Local Health Networks that will serve our area to discuss required changes.
Lori gave thanks to the Tragedy Response team for their support given to the Kincardine area this summer.  MaryKay MacKenzie has retired as the coordinator.  Jill Francis, an educational assistant at Georgian Bay Secondary will assume the position of coordinator.
Agenda Items:
SEAC has started planning the presentations they will be making to Bluewater School Community Councils.
