ACCOMMODATION MEMO

Accommodation Review Process

As you know, your school has been identified by the Board to be part of the Accommodation Review process during the 2007-08 school year.

The System Administrative Team and Union Presidents have been working together to determine the best way to support staff throughout this process which can be a very emotional one for those involved.  

The first public meetings are being held:

•     Monday, December 17th, 2007             7:00 p.m.               Walkerton District Secondary School •     Tuesday, December 18th, 2007            7:00 p.m.               Sydenham Community School
At these meetings, the accommodation review process will be explained and individual school reports will be provided.  Staff members are welcome to attend these meetings.

At the January staff meeting in your school, your principal will share the report for your school.  This report will include information about the other schools involved in the review in your community.  You may also wish to review these reports when they are posted on our website next week.  Your principal is a member of the Accommodation Review Committee (ARC) and will be the staff representative on that committee.  

To provide an opportunity for school staffs to come together for further discussion and to provide staff input into the accommodation process, the following meetings have been scheduled:

•     Tuesday, January 29th, 2008             4:00 p.m.               Sydenham Community School
•     Wednesday, January 30th, 2008           4:00 p.m.               Walkerton District Secondary School
Your area superintendent and union presidents will co-host these meetings.

The 90 day public consultation period ends on April 4th, 2008.  Meetings with individual employee groups will be organized after that time to begin discussions about how the proposed solutions will impact staff.
