Educational Assistant Framework

The Educational Assistant Framework was developed to provide a comprehensive overview of the role of the Educational Assistant and articulate a common understanding of guiding principles that act as a foundation for the Educational Assistant Profession in Bluewater District School Board.   It addresses roles, responsibilities, deployment, supervision and training.   It is a compendium of information that has been developed by Bluewater staff over the past five years and reflects the important role that educational assistants play in supporting the learning and achievement of students with special education needs within the District.  The document was developed in consultation with an advisory committee representative of stakeholder groups including Administrators, Student Services Staff, and Educational Assistants.
The Educational Assistant Framework was presented to administrators on February 26, 2008.  A presentation to all Educational Assistants will occur on the April 30th Early Dismal Day.  Further plans to in-service Learning Resource Teachers are currently being developed.
