Celebration –  Emerging Leadership
Marnie Coke introduced Jeff Moser, Principal of G. C. Huston Public School and member of the Emerging Leadership Committee.  He provided information on the three leadership sessions being presented by the Association of Bluewater Administrators and the System Administrative Team to support teachers who may wish to seek an administrative position sometime in their future.  Through these sessions, potential administrators can access information on required qualifications, opportunities to develop leadership skills and the establishment of networks and mentoring processes with experienced administrators.   The sessions are open to both elementary and secondary teachers and require no specific commitment to an administrative role.

Staff Reports -  Home Room Teacher Meeting
Steven Reid provided information regarding an evening information session for parents planned for April 1, 2008 at Chesley District High School.  Guest speaker Dr. Helen Bochar of Beyond-the-Basics Educational Consulting Inc. will share the rationale around the provision of instruction in the core subjects by homeroom teachers.  Information about this session has been shared through various media such as school newsletters, School Community Councils and the board website.

BEAT of the DRUM
Steven Reid shared information on the Aboriginal Symposium, BEAT of the DRUM, to be held on April 7 & 8, 2008.  On April 7th, representatives from the Ministry of Education, Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board, Chippewas of Saugeen First Nation, Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation, local Aboriginal community organizations and the Bluewater District School Board will take part in opening ceremonies and presentations at the Days Inn, Owen Sound.  Keynote speaker Dr. Pamela Rose Toulouse from Laurentian University will address teachers during a morning session on Aboriginal Students and Self Esteem.  Staff presentations and success stories will be shared during the afternoon session.  Dr. Toulouse will also share her presentation with community members at Amabel-Sauble School on the evening of April 7th and with school administrators on April 8th at Stone Tree, Owen Sound.  The symposium will serve to launch various Aboriginal initiatives being undertaken by the Bluewater District School Board in support of Aboriginal students.
