The Parent Involvement Committee of Bluewater District School Board organized a Parent Conference with the theme “In Your Children’s Shoes” on Saturday, November 1st, 2008 at O.S.C.V.I. in Owen Sound.  The following gives a summary of the key events of the conference.  

Keynote Speaker:

Riley Taylor, French Immersion student, Hillcrest Elementary School, providing perspective on the value of the French Immersion Program
Megan Myles, Bruce Peninsula District School, discussing the role of student senators/trustees with the Board
Amelia Sweiger, Bruce Peninsula District School, providing insights on the impact of the UNESCO designation at her school
Paige Allerton, West Hill Secondary School, showcasing how environmental issues bring relevance to the secondary school program

There were 45 parents registered, with 23 schools represented.
Parent Involvement Committee:
The Conference was supported by Ministry of Education Parent Involvement funding and the PIC provided a $250 incentive to the school with the most attendees:  G.C. Huston Public School in Southampton was the recipient of the award.
