40-HOUR COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT ACTIVITIES


Information:
As stated in the Ministry of Education Policy/Program Memorandum No. 124A:

“Each school board is responsible for developing a list of community involvement activities that the board considers acceptable.  The board’s list must not include activities that are designate as ineligible in this memorandum.  The board must develop its list of approved activities in consultation with the schools councils of schools in its jurisdiction, the Special Education Advisory Committee and the board’s insurer.”

Georgian Bay Secondary School, John Diefenbaker Secondary School and Walkerton District Secondary School have submitted further additional Community Involvement Activities that are not listed in the Bluewater Secondary Community Involvement Guidelines for Board approval.  (see links below – additional activities are marked with an asterisk.)

Bruce Peninsula District School, Chesley District High School, Kincardine District Secondary School, OSCVI, and West Hill Secondary School have no further additional activities to add to the Bluewater Secondary Community Involvement Guidelines.

Grey Highlands Secondary School, Peninsula Shores District School and Saugeen District Secondary School are following the Bluewater Guidelines with no additional activities.

Recommendation:
THAT Bluewater District School Board approve the additional 40-Hour Community Involvement Activities at Georgian Bay Secondary School, John Diefenbaker Secondary School and Walkerton District Secondary School.
