Jan Johnstone Chaired the meeting in Tim Reaburn’s absence.

The Policy Committee received and discussed the following reports and policies.

•     Student Awards and Recognition•     Anaphylaxis (Life-Threatening Allergic Reaction)
•     Bloodborne Pathogens (HIV/AIDS/Hepatitis B & C)
•     Assault, Sexual Abuse and Professioanl Misconduct Involving Board Staff
•     Personnel•     Honorarium - Trustees

The committee reviewed a new policy BP 6601-D “Student Awards and Recognition” that was developed through extensive consultation with Principals as well as students. It was agreed to refer this policy to the system for review prior to it being returned to the committee. The committee reviewed through the cyclical review process the following Policies: BP 6804-D-D “Anaphylaxis (Life-Threatening Allergic Reaction)”; and BP 1420-D “Bloodborne Pathogens (HIV/AIDS/Hepatitis B & C), agreeing to forward each of these policies to Student Services SAT Council, prior to referring them to the system for review.  Policy BP 7522-D “Assault, Sexual Abuse and Professional Misconduct Involving Board Staff” was reviewed and referred directly to the system for review.  The committee recommended that the Board endorse Policy BP 7701-D “Personnel (General) and Policy BP 4901-D “Honorarium – Trustees” as previously approved.

The committee deferred definitely review of the Policy BP 6302-D “Aboriginal Self Identification” to the next meeting of the committee.

Recommendations


THAT Bluewater District School Board endorse Policy BP 7701-D “Personnel (General)” as previously approved by the Board.
THAT Bluewater District School Board endorse Policy BP 4901-D “Honorarium – Trustees” as previously approved by the Board.
