GPTL Phase 4 Final Project List
Members received a report on the final projects for inclusion under Phase 4 of the Good Places to Learn grant.  The RFP’s for the projects are complete and will go out for tender within the next two weeks.  Members were given the opportunity to ask questions.
2009-10 Grants for Student Needs
Members received a presentation on the Grants for Student Needs (GSN) funding announced by the Ministry in late March.  Areas of the funding formula where grants were increased or decreased were outlined.  A Media Release regarding the GSN was reviewed for distribution.  In view of the current economic climate, the impact of the funding announcements will have minimal impact for the Board.  Members were given the opportunity to ask questions.
May 5/09 Public Budget Meeting
Members reviewed the draft notification for the public budget meeting to be held on May 5, 2009 from 5 – 7 p.m.  The notice will be sent to schools, SCC’s, PIC’s, municipalities, media and be posted to the Board’s website.
Letter from Carol Mitchell, MPP Huron-Bruce
Members reviewed the letter from Carol Mitchell to Premier Dalton McGuinty supporting the Walkerton ARC’s recommendations for a JK-12 school.  The Board will send a letter of support which will provide clarification that the schools are not currently under review but that the accommodation review has been completed.  The letter of support will also include the ARC recommendation for replacement of Alexandra Community School.
