RECOGNITION OF EXCELLENCE
•     Crisis Team – Joan White and Richard Bryant
Joan White and Richard Bryant were recognized for the unfailing support and guidance they provided to staff, students, parents and community members during recent tragic events in Bluewater.
•     Bluewater Trustees
Bluewater District School Board trustees were recognized for their support of students, school programs and staff development over their three-year term with the Board. The trustees demonstrated vision and commitment during the difficult first years of the new board in the face of many legislated changes in public education.

COMMITTEE REPORTS
Policy Committee Report
The Board endorsed the new Policy Manual and rescinded the policy documents of the former Bruce County and Grey County Boards of Education The following policies were approved by the Board:

EDUCATIONAL ISSUES
•     Grade 3 and Grade 6 Provincial Assessment
The Board received a report on the Grade 3 and Grade 6 Provincial Assessment that included the background, testing content, reporting of results and next steps.
•     Field Trip Request
The Board approved the Saugeen District Secondary School Cheerleading Team trip to Niagara Falls, New York to participate in the “Holiday Cheer for Charity” from December 15 – 17, 2000.

STAFF REPORTS
Student Accommodation Reports
•     Bruce Peninsula District School (Secondary)
The Board approved the timeline for the student accommodation review to be extended to review the original System Administrative Team recommendation and to investigate other alternatives. A report based on the second review will be returned to the Board no later than March 20, 2001. A further 90-day period for public input will be established no later than March 21, 2001.
•     St. Edmunds Public School
St. Edmunds Public School will be reorganized to a JK – Grade 8 school effective September 1, 2001 and the catchment area will be extended to include the Miller Lake area. This reorganization of St. Edmunds Public School will be phased in as follows: JK – Grade 7 for September 1, 2001 JK – Grade 8 for September 1, 2002
•     Eastnor Central School
Eastnor Central School will be closed effective September 1, 2001 and the students will be moved to Bruce Peninsula District School.
•     Wiarton District High School
The Board approved the timeline for the student accommodation review to be extended to review the original System Administrative Team recommendation and to investigate other alternatives. A report based on the second review will be returned to the Board no later than March 20, 2001. A further 90-day period for public input will be established no later than March 21, 2001.
•     Dundalk Highpoint Community School
The Board approved four additional classrooms, renovation of the administrative area, change room and washroom facilities for Highpoint Community School.
•     Macphail Memorial Elementary School
The catchment area for Macphail Memorial Elementary School will remain unchanged and the proposal to adjust the western boundary of the catchment area was withdrawn.
•     Ripley-Huron Community School (Sr. Campus)
Ripley-Huron Community School (Sr. Campus) will be closed upon the completion of the addition and alteration at the Ripley-Huron Community School (Junior Campus).
