RECOGNITION OF EXCELLENCE
Musical Ensemble
A musical ensemble "Derek and the Jingle Belles" from the Saugeen District senior music class performed three holiday selections under the direction of teacher Ian Burbidge, which were enjoyed immensely by the audience.
Let's Learn
Lori Wilder  presented the members of this sub-committee of the Let's Grow Committee.  This group is an example of how community partnerships can work to support the benefit of students.  The process supports student learning by promoting successful entry to school transitions on behalf of all children and provides connections to area agencies for families to access in preparing their child for entry to school.

ELECTION
Ross King was elected to the position of Chair of Bluewater District School Board and Jennifer Yenssen was elected to the position of Vice-Chair.

AUDITOR'S REPORT
Representing BDO Dunwoody, Linda Bross presented the audited financial statements of the board for the year ending August 31, 2007.

BUSINESS COMMITTEE
The Business Committee Report from the December 4, 2007 meeting was received.  Marg Gaviller was declared Chair of the business Committee for 2008 and members received the first financial report for 2007-08.

EDUCATIONAL ISSUES COMMITTEE
At the December 4, 2007 meeting of the Educational Issues Committee Cindy Aitken was declared Chair. The Board received the December 4, 2007 report from the committee where the following reports were received:  The Queen Elizabeth II Aiming for the Top Scholarship; Parent Involvement Committee; Diabetes Procedure; No Child Without;and Overview of Commitees with Trustee Representation.

POLICY COMMITTEE
The Policy Committee Report was received from the November 20, 2007 meeting.  The committee recommended that the Board approve the Inclement Weather Policy and that they approve the Purchasing policy as amended.

SPECIAL EDUCATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SEAC) REPORT
The Board received the report from the November 19th meeting of the special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC).  Updates were provided to the committee that included information about the pilot project to hire Child and Youth Workers to work in all secondary schools, which is a project of Keystone, in partnership with Bruce Power; Let's Learn Kindergarten Registrations; and the committee was informed that Michelle Forge, has been named to a subcommittee for the Mental Health Commission and will be writing a guide based on Bluewater practices, for providing school-based mental health services for children and youth.

STUDENT TRUSTEE/SENATORS’ REPORT                      Student Trustees and Senators informed the Board that they are discussing actions in schools that relate the Caring portion of the Character Attributes and one of their areas of discussion was the various food drives in Schools.  Discussion also focused on another school in the district that is currently collecting money for a family with a child with cancer and yet another school is collecting funds to replace a monument to Veterans that was destroyed.
Field Trips and Exchanges
The following Field Trips were approved by the Board:
Chesley District High School - Algonquin Park Canoe Trip - May 28 to June 1, 2008
Chesley District High School - Cultural Arts Tour to New York City, New York - May 7 to 11, 2008

STAFF REPORTS
Financial Report - 2006-07
The Board received the fourth and final financial report for the 2006-07 year, indicating that there was a $116,8555 deficit for the year ending August 31, 2007.

Banking Resolutions
In accordance with Board By-Laws, the Board approved the banking resolutions as required.

Budgeted Employment Tracking Report
The Board received for information the curent employment tracking report that shows the number of staff and actual numbers on the payroll.

School Support and Service Centre Financing
The Board approved the financing resolution that authorizes the Treasurer and the Director of Education of the Board to execute papers in the name of the Board as they pertain to the new School Support Service Centre.
