H1N1 Flu

We are working in partnership with Grey Bruce Public Health to prepare our schools to reduce the risk of exposure and control the spread of H1N1 flu and other influenza-like illness.

At this time, the most important factors in the control or spread of H1N1 influenza or other influenza-like illnesses (ILI) in schools or workplaces are:
  • Early identification of influenza-like illness or symptoms of ill students or staff;

Influenza Fact Sheet – What are the Symptoms?

It is recommended by health care professionals that individuals (i.e. students and staff) who have influenza-like illness not attend school/work until they have been symptom free for 24 hours (symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, muscle aches, and weakness).

  • Practising frequent hand-washing and cough/sneeze etiquette.
