The following is the order that applications will be sorted and considered in this Composite Posting.
Eligibility:
Permanent Educational Assistants (Full-time or Part-time) and Temporary Qualified Educational Assistants are eligible to apply. Applications will be sorted and considered in the following sequence:
1. Permanent Educational Assistants
2. Part-time Permanent Educational Assistants who wish to increase time
3. Temporary Qualified Educational Assistants (must be on Temporary Qualified List!)
NOTE: Permanent or Part-Time permanent employees must have completed their probationary period to apply. They may apply to increase time if the new assignment can be scheduled with their current position.
Professional Qualifications and Experience
As per Article 16.04, all Educational Assistants in the employ of the board shall be deemed qualified for all Educational Assistant positions. Notwithstanding Article 16.04, the Board may require an Educational Assistant to have additional qualifications for positions, which require specific medical, physical or communication skills.

The deadline for applying to these vacancies is 4:00 pm on January 24, 2012.
Interviews (if needed) will take place on January 30, 2012 and January 31, 2012 at the Chesley Education Centre. Only those eligible or selected for an interview will be contacted. Successful candidates will be notified prior to start date.
Required Skills and Duties Include
The successful candidate will be a positive, enthusiastic individual who has skills consistent with the role description of an Educational Assistant as per the Bluewater District School Board’s Special Education Plan.
The Educational Assistant is responsible to the Principal to provide program and service assistance in elementary and secondary schools. Job duties are subject to change in accordance with student and school needs.

NORTHPORT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Principal- Bill Colley
One temporary full time (1.0 FTE) Educational Assistant
EA duties will include working with a variety of students with medical, physical, and safety / supervision needs. Knowledge in the areas of Autism, PECS, ABI, Behaviour and Assistive technology are required. EA applicant needs to be flexible in sharing roles and responsibilities of a number of students with varying needs and working as part of a team to support these student needs. Current certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is mandatory.
G.C. HUSTON PUBLIC SCHOOL Principal- Dan Russell
One temporary part time (0.8 FTE) Educational Assistant
This assignment involves working with a variety of students within and outside the classroom setting. Applicants must possess strong communication skills and ability to respond to the social/emotional/cognitive needs of a variety of students as well as having experience with behaviour strategies. Experience working with autistic students is an asset. Current certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is mandatory
One temporary part time (0.2 FTE) Educational Assistant- Wednesdays
This assignment involves working with a variety of students within and outside the classroom setting. Applicants must possess strong communication skills and ability to respond to the social/emotional/cognitive needs of a variety of students as well as having experience with behaviour strategies. Experience working with autistic students is an asset. Current certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is mandatory.
BRUCE PENINSULA DISTRICT SCHOOL Principal Anne MacLaughlin
One temporary part-time (0.5) Educational Assistant. -The assignment involves working in both the Elementary and Secondary panel in integrated classroom settings and some resource withdrawal settings with individual and small groups of students. Current certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is mandatory
SAUGEEN DISTRICT SECONDARY SCHOOL Principal- Ron Code
One temporary full-time (1.0 FTE) Educational Assistant- beginning February 6, 2012
EA duties will include working with a variety of students with medical, physical, and safety / supervision needs. One Temporary part -time (0.5) Educational Assistant. – This assignment is scheduled in the middle of the day. The assignment involves having the ability to respond to the social/emotional/cognitive needs of a variety of students as well as having experience with behaviour strategies. Experience working with autistic students is an asset. Current certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is mandatory
SYDENHAM COMMUNITY SCHOOL Principal- Keith Lefebvre
One temporary full time (1.0FTE) Educational Assistant – Schedule to be determined. EA duties will include working with a variety of students with safety / supervision needs. Knowledge and experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, and Spina Bifida would be assets. The applicant needs to be flexible in sharing roles and responsibilities for a number of students with varying needs and working as part of a team to support these student needs. This assignment requires the successful candidate to support a number of lifts and transfers for the student.
Current certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is mandatory

WALKERTON PUBLIC SCHOOL Principal – Paul Robinson
One temporary full time (1.0 FTE) Educational Assistant
This assignment requires experience and training in autism spectrum disorders as well as experience with high physical needs. A working knowledge of Kurzwell and Board Maker would be an asset. This assignment will also require implementing OT/PT programs. Current certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is mandatory
KEYSTONE WALKERTON CENTRE- SECTION 23 Vice-Principal- Melissa McEwen
One temporary full time (1.0 F.T.E.) educational assistant beginning February 6, 2012 to June 28,2012 or earlier if circumstances change. This assignment involves supporting students in an alternative learning environment as well as in the classroom. Applicants must possess strong communication skills Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is mandatory and ability to respond to the social/emotional/cognitive needs of a variety of students as well as having experience with behaviour strategies.
