Teaching Application Procedure

All qualified teachers who wish to apply for external permanent and external long term occasional teaching positions can apply to posted external vacancies only through Apply to Education (formerly Apply to Teach) at www.applytoeducation.com.  Postings for vacancies can be found on this website as well as on applytoeducation.  Note that we do not accept paper applications and that all external candidates must apply through applytoeducation.com

In order to be considered for an interview, please ensure that the documents listed below are included in your on-line portfolio:
-       Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Registration and Certificate (or Interim Certificate) of Qualification (recent Faculty of Education graduates may provide upon receipt of Certificates).
-       Practicum Reports or Teacher Evaluation
-       Reference Letters

The following paperwork is required upon hiring:
-       an original or “true copy” of the Criminal Background Check - must have been completed within the past 6 months. This check must include a Pardoned Sexual Offender Data Base Check.
-       other relevant documentation may be required upon hire, dependant on teacher group.

Please note that teachers who are currently on Bluewater District School Board's Elementary and Secondary Occasional Teacher lists are not required to provide the Criminal Background Check, Children's Aid Society Check, Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Registration and Certificate of Qualification because that information is on file.

Screening interview days for the Elementary and Secondary Occasional Teacher Lists are held twice during the school year (spring and fall) provided the lists have not reached their cap.  Candidates who wish to apply for placement on this list must apply for the posted advertisement through Apply to Education.  Watch for postings in October and April.  Applicants who have submitted applications for the Elementary and Secondary Occasional Teacher Lists may be short listed and will be notified prior to the interview day with an interview time and other information pertaining to the interview.

Advertising of available external permanent and external long term occasional teaching positions will be posted on this website (see below) and at the Apply to Education and Jobs in Education websites.  Interested applicants must apply to each individual posted position through Apply to Education.  Your resume is not automatically forwarded to posted positions.

We encourage you to sign up for the Job Alert feature on Apply to Education.  Teachers can sign up for free and will be notified via email that a job has been posted by our Board.  Please contact applytoeducation.com for more details on how to set up this job alert feature.

If you have further questions regarding the application process please contact the Human Resources Department.
