Cancellations of School Bus Routes:
Occasionally, it becomes necessary to cancel student transportation due to weather conditions. School bus routes are cancelled based on the recommendations of school bus operators. School bus operators consult with area roads departments and other contact people within their operating area. Based on information gathered on the road conditions and weather forecasts, a decision is made to either operate or cancel school buses. Notification to the radio stations is made as early as possible.
Generally schools will remain open when buses are cancelled. This allows accommodation for students who typically walk to school or who are dropped off by parents. If a school is to be closed the media will be advised and a message will be included with bus cancellation messages.
