PSDS Students Meet Their Pen Pals

An intergenerational project at Peninsula Shores District School in Wiarton is helping students to connect with and learn about their elder peers, while perfecting their writing skills. Throughout the semester, students in Mrs. Cameron's Grade 9/10/11/OLC English class have been writing as pen pals to residents of Gateway Haven, the local retirement and seniors' home. Recently, the class participated in a field trip so that they could personally meet their pen pals and interview residents. The students have been using the information they gathered to create biographies as part of an English assignment.
Bluewater District School Board is located on the traditional land of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, which is represented by the communities of Saugeen First Nation and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation.
