Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week 2020
Posted on 11/15/2020
Animated hand with the word, "Stop"November 15 – 21, 2020 is Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week. In Bluewater District School Board, students and staff are joining together to pledge support in standing up to bullying in all its forms, by working together to cultivate safe, accepting, equitable, and inclusive environments in our schools and worksites. It is an opportunity to think about our individual and collective responsibilities to uphold the following strategic priority and associated goals from Bluewater’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan:

Safe Supportive Learning Community
 Work together to support wellness
 Foster the strengths, contributions, and overall health of students and staff

Anti-bullying themed learning and awareness is a year-round commitment in Bluewater as evidenced by several initiatives, such as Gender Sexuality Alliance clubs in many schools and the recognition of numerous special occasions. Some of these include Treaties Recognition Week, Mental Illness Awareness Week, Orange Shirt Day, Pride Month, International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, Mental Health Week, and Pink Shirt Day.

Learn more about Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week and resources that are available through the Ministry of Education.
