The United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of Canada (UA Canada), Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP), Bruce Power, and CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) Welding Foundation recently joined together to organize the first ever High Level Welding Camp in Bruce and Grey counties.

Ten graduating students from Bluewater and Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Boards were recommended by their Manufacturing teachers, and invited to the week-long welding camp at the Bruce Technology Skills & Training Centre in Tiverton.  Each of these students, who has shown a passion for welding throughout secondary school, worked hard the week of July 5 to 9, 2021 to take their welding skills to the next level.

The training was delivered by UA Canada Training Specialist Ray Lemieux.  Special guests from UA Canada, CWB Welding Foundation, and Bruce Power dropped by to provide their welding expertise and discuss with the students the endless career possibilities in this field.

We look forward to continuing and growing this partnership during the 2021 - 2022  school year to expose even more students to the many opportunities that exist in welding and the skilled trades.
