Director's Message - March 11, 2022
Posted on 03/11/2022
Director's Message graphic with BWDSB logo and image of Director Wilder As we welcome March Break, a return to pre-pandemic times is taking shape in our Bluewater District School Board schools and work sites with the recent provincial announcement that many COVID-19 restrictions are lifting across Ontario.  The changes that students, staff, and families can expect to see after the break are outlined on our COVID-19 Updates web page.

I realize that there are questions and mixed feelings as we move to this next phase along the road to pandemic recovery.  In Bluewater, we remain firmly committed to prioritizing the health and safety of our learning and working environments.  We will continue to work in close partnership with our local public health unit to proactively respond to this ever-evolving situation accordingly.

Since March 2020, our students, parents/guardians, staff, partners, and communities have endured the unpredictable and unthinkable.  On behalf of our trustees and senior team, I want to recognize everyone’s efforts and support over the past few years in following our protocols, and working together to put the health and safety of students and staff first.  I know that your patience, kindness, and care for one another will persist as we adapt to the latest changes.  Thank you for all you have done, and will continue to do!

On an optimistic note, it is so nice to witness the renewed enthusiasm and excitement of many of our students and staff as field trips, sports, extra-curricular activities, and school events gradually resume.

Despite our rekindled hope related to the pandemic, I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the high degree of uncertainty and anxiety that many are experiencing due to the situation unfolding in Ukraine.  While we are seeing significant global ramifications, I know that there are those in our local school communities who are also directly or indirectly impacted by the crisis.  During this time, I extend my heartfelt thoughts, compassion, and wishes for the safety and well-being of all those experiencing the brunt of the ongoing devastation.

Whether you are taking time off or working during March Break, I hope that the next week will provide some opportunities for rest, reflection, and enjoyment among family and friends.  With the return of daylight-saving time on March 13 and the first day of spring occurring on March 20, brighter days are ahead, both literally and figuratively!

Have a safe and wonderful March Break!
