Several Bluewater DSB schools have independent Home and School Associations which undertake activities to support education. Individual members pay an annual membership fee to the umbrella Federation of Home and School Associations.

Participating on School Council as a parent representative
|
Every school in Ontario is mandated to have a School Council (with parent, teacher, student, community, and non-teaching staff representatives who work to: a) improve pupil achievement through the promotion of parental and community participation in the education process; b) act in an advisory capacity to the school principal and where appropriate the Board; c) provide parents and students with a more responsible and active role in education programs and services; and, d) enhance the accountability of the education system to parents.

The mandate of the PIC is to: support, encourage, and enhance meaningful parent engagement at the board level; to improve student achievement and well-being; provide information and advice to the board on parent engagement; communicate with and support school councils; and, undertake activities to help parents support their children’s learning at home and at school.
