Current hometown: Collingwood

What Bluewater school(s) did you attend as a student? G.C. Huston Public School, Saugeen District Secondary School

What year did you graduate from Bluewater? 2009

Please provide a brief summary of the career pathways (e.g. post-secondary studies and subsequent employment) you pursued after graduating from secondary school.

After graduation, I studied Environmental Engineering (Co-op) at the University of Guelph. During my studies, I completed co-op work terms at the Walkerton Clean Water Centre, City of Mississauga, and C.F. Crozier & Associates. Upon graduation, I accepted a full-time position at Crozier in their Milton office as a Land Development and Water Resources Engineering intern before transferring to their Collingwood location in 2016, where I now work as Project Manager. In 2018, I became licensed as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.

Please tell us a bit about your current career.

Currently, I work as Project Manager within the water resource and land development groups at Crozier & Associates, a Land Development Consulting Engineering Firm. I have worked on a variety of key projects involving the preliminary and detailed design of residential, commercial and industrial developments, including water and sanitary servicing, grading, stormwater management, low impact development design, and floodplain delineation. I provide project and client management, and regularly play a key role when consulting local review agencies and working with other consultants. My role also involves sitting on a number of internal committees focused on training and operational initiatives.

What do you consider your greatest career achievement thus far?

I consider achieving my professional engineering license and being recognized as a leader in my organization within years of graduating post-secondary as my greatest career highlights to date.

How has your education in Bluewater prepared you for your career?

My education at Saugeen District Secondary School provided me with a strong science and math background, which directed and prepared me for my engineering education. In addition, I was involved in extra-curricular activities (i.e. Band, sports teams) throughout my time in BWDSB, which allowed me to travel to different locations, meet new people, and form long lasting connections. Through both the school work and extra-curriculars, I was also fortunate to have a number of teachers who provided valuable mentorship during my time in BWDSB.
Bluewater District School Board is located on the traditional land of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, which is represented by the communities of Saugeen First Nation and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation.
