National Indigenous History Month 2020


June is National Indigenous History Month. Bluewater District School Board welcomes and supports the opportunity to honour and learn more about the importance of Canadian Indigenous history and culture, and the immeasurable contributions of our Indigenous citizens. Part of this month's special recognition includes National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21.

The many schools and facilities of Bluewater District School Board are located on the traditional land of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, which is represented by the communities of Saugeen First Nation and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation. Despite the current closure of schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students and staff are encouraged to seek out creative and innovative ways to engage, virtually or through other means, in Indigenous themed learning.
