World Teachers’ Day on October 5, 2019

Bluewater District School Board recognizes the critically important role that teachers play in fostering the fundamental knowledge and life skills necessary to help our students thrive and succeed. With World Teachers’ Day occurring on October 5, 2019, we encourage you to take a moment this week to personally thank a teacher who has inspired or made an invaluable contribution to your learning, or the learning experience of your child.

The Canadian Teachers’ Federation has adopted the theme, “I Teach for a Better World” in celebration of World Teachers’ Day this year. We join others around the globe in reflecting on the countless ways in which teachers go above and beyond every single day, to develop resilience and responsible global citizenship amongst our youth.

“We thank all of our teachers in Bluewater District School Board on World Teachers’ Day, and every day, for the passion and professionalism that they bring to their classrooms and school communities. Their lasting positive impact in helping to shape the minds, lives, and futures of our students cannot be understated, and we are eternally grateful for all they do,” says Board Chair Jan Johnstone.
“From JK to Grade 12, I continue to be amazed by our many exceptionally talented and caring Bluewater District School Board teachers and education workers. Whether they are new to the teaching profession or have years of experience in our system, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to them on World Teachers’ Day for their commitment to excellence, and the unique skills, expertise, and creativity that they individually bring to their learning environments,” says Director of Education Alana Murray.

Thank a teacher or share a story about an outstanding teacher experience you or your child has benefited from in Bluewater District School Board by posting on social media with the hashtag, #BluewaterWTD2019.
