Long service recipients group photoA celebratory evening among family members, colleagues, and friends to honour length of service and retirements in Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB) was held on Thursday, June 19, 2025.

The Long Service and Retirement Recognition Reception at Stone Tree in Owen Sound offered a year-end opportunity for social gathering, a delicious meal, awards, and humour. The formal part of the program included greetings by Chair Jane Thomson on behalf of the Board of Trustees, followed by presentations in several categories emceed by Director of Education Lori Wilder.

Trustees and superintendents took turns presenting long service awards in the categories of 25, 30, 35, and 45 years of service. Staff celebrating retirement were then honoured for their contributions and remarkable careers.

To cap off the evening, guest speakers Melissa Juniper (long service) and Karen Spragg (retirees) inspired with heartfelt and humour-infused messages to those celebrating milestones. View their speeches at the links below.

Congratulations to all the 2025 long service recipients and retiring staff members for their years of dedication and hard work, along with the legacies they have created in supporting excellence within our local education system. We extend our deepest thanks and best wishes to them, whether they are entering the next stage in their BWDSB careers or transitioning into new life adventures.
