Image of hands connected in unityWe are shocked and saddened by Tuesday’s tragedy in British Columbia at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School and within the community.

Bluewater District School Board shares deepest condolences with the victims’ families, students, staff, and all those impacted by this devastating loss. We mourn for the lives that have been lost and extend our thoughts to those injured.

As a school board that serves many small interconnected rural communities, we understand how a tragedy of this nature can extend beyond the walls of a single school. It especially hits close to home when something like this happens in a small town on Canadian soil.

We grieve alongside the Tumbler Ridge school and broader community and hold them in our hearts during this incredibly difficult time. In Bluewater, we will continue to support open conversations in our schools and provide resources to any students and staff who may be affected by this news.
Bluewater District School Board is located on the traditional land of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, which is represented by the communities of Saugeen First Nation and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation.
