In Bluewater District School Board, we celebrate the achievements, contributions, stories, and rich culture of Black individuals in our communities, Canada, and beyond.

This year’s Black History Month theme is “Black Legacy and Leadership: Celebrating Canadian History and Uplifting Future Generations.” While we focus on the many amazing examples of Black leadership, strength, and resilience, we also reflect on the challenges faced historically, and in the present, by Black individuals in society. We think about our important roles and responsibilities, both individually and collectively, in combatting all forms of racism, discrimination, and systemic barriers for people of colour.

Bluewater District School Board is located on the traditional land of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, which is represented by the communities of Saugeen First Nation and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation.
