Trustees approved that staff conduct a public information meeting for Dundalk and area residents explaining the forthcoming changes to the Dundalk and area schools, including the grade relocation and holding areas.
Holding zones were approved for Dundalk effective the start of the 2025 – 2026 school year.
The ‘Audit Planning Report to the Audit Committee’ was approved.
Also approved was the ‘Proposed Regional Internal Audit Plan 2024 – 2026’.
Student Senate Report
Student Trustee Amy-Lee Whyte shared an update on fall sports that are occurring, such as girls’ basketball, boys’ volleyball, rugby, cross country, tennis, and golf. Many schools have been hosting Terry Fox Run activities to raise money for cancer research. Schools have also been promoting awareness for truth and reconciliation. Other activities have included dances, spirit weeks, costume contests, food drives, clubs, and more. It is also a busy time for academic award assemblies and commencements.
The Equity Student Forum for secondary students across the board will be taking place on Monday, October 21 at the Bluewater District School Board Education Centre featuring Chris D’Souza sharing on student leadership within our schools.
Staff Recruitment
A presentation was shared on recruitment efforts by Human Resources Services to ensure competitiveness in attracting and retaining qualified staff. Recent initiatives have included an increase in continuous supply list recruitment, attending recruitment fairs in local communities and at universities to promote Bluewater District School Board as an employer with a diverse range of employment opportunities, and a “meet and greet” for teacher candidates.
