Summer Special Education and Mental Health Transition Supports for Students
Trustees viewed a presentation on opportunities that were provided to students with special education and mental health needs in their transition back to school. Available funding allowed staff to arrange a wide variety of activities, such as tours and visits, small group lessons, assessments, welcome phone calls, resource development, transition meetings with students and parents/caregivers, staff training, and more. The funding also supported a Supervised Alternative Learning (SAL) student forum at the end of June that ensured students were well resourced for the summer months. In addition, the funding will enable planning for a September Wellness Champions Day for secondary schools.
