As we head into the Thanksgiving weekend, I would like to take this opportunity to share a message of gratitude.

With the changing colours and cooler days of fall upon us, I am reminded of the stunning beauty surrounding our schools and work sites.  I feel very fortunate to live and work in Grey and Bruce counties, and to serve the students and families of Bluewater District School Board.

From kindergarten to Grade 12, I am thankful for the students who come through the doors of our schools every day.  Witnessing their growth, achievements, and successes along the way, while playing a part in their learning journey, are truly wonderful gifts.  They are the leaders of tomorrow, and every one of them brings something unique to contribute to the culture and fabric of our school system.

Gratitude is owed to our parents/guardians and families, who put their trust in us daily to educate, inspire, and ensure the safety and well-being of their children.  Our parents/guardians are significant partners in education, and I am continually amazed by their commitment, along with all our volunteers.

My role as Director of Education could not be accomplished without the ongoing support of our Bluewater District School Board staff, who possess a wide and varied range of expertise and skills in multiple areas.  I am grateful for the dedication, professionalism, and leadership they bring to their positions to keep our local education system running smoothly, safely, equitably, and in a manner that directly or indirectly fosters student excellence and wellness.

My thankfulness extends to the Board of Trustees for their continued support.  Their informed decision-making always strives to put what is best for students first.  My colleagues on the senior leadership team and others in supporting roles are also instrumental in guiding our system level work.

There are many partners who inform our work as well, including those representing our employee groups, community organizations, municipal and provincial governments, media, other school boards, and education networks of which we are members.  I am thankful for their diverse perspectives and partnership for the good of all students.

I wish you the very best for an amazing weekend among family and friends.
