Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB) is celebrating the Canadian Mental Health Association's (CMHA's) 53rd annual Mental Health Week!
Held each year during the first full week in May, Mental Health Week is a Canadian tradition, with communities, schools, and workplaces rallying to celebrate, protect, and promote mental health and well-being.
A key and vital community partner of our board, CMHA is providing daily activities for classrooms and schools to utilize in promoting the campaign objectives and modeling to students the importance of looking after and nurturing our well-being. From morning announcements and the use of online resources, to read-alongs and sing-alongs, there is a wealth of activities that our schools and worksites will be engaging in during Mental Health Week from May 6 to 12, 2024.
This year’s Mental Health Week theme is "Healing Through Compassion". Compassion is the practice of meeting suffering – whether our own or the suffering of others – with kindness. We all have the capacity to be compassionate, and we know that doing so can make an enormous difference for our mental health.
Compassion is contagious! CMHA encourages others to spread the word on social media using the following hashtags:
#CompassionConnects
#MentalHealthWeek
