Screen free mental health Friday posterAs remote learning winds down at Port Elgin-Saugeen Central School, a mental health and wellness afternoon has been planned for students, staff, and families.

On Friday, January 22, a time block from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. is being dedicated to taking a break from screens.  After participating in virtual learning for the first half of the day, each division (Kindergarten, Primary, and Junior) are to be given a “choice board” full of outdoor learning activities that are linked to their respective curriculum level.  Students are asked to take photos and videos of their outdoor learning, and then share them with their classes on the Brightspace discussion forum.

The school is aiming for lots of participation with as many students as possible learning outside and enjoying nature.  Port Elgin-Saugeen Central School's initiative exemplifies the creative ways in which Bluewater District School Board students are being engaged and supported in their wellness during remote learning!
