October 5 is World Teachers’ Day, an annual recognition occasion honouring educators, past and present, for their hard work, inspiration, and invaluable contributions to the growth, success, and well-being of students.
In Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB), we acknowledge and thank our many dedicated educators who help shape the lives and future success of the approximately 18,900 students we serve in our local school communities. BWDSB educators set a positive example not only through their academic expertise, but in the leadership qualities and kindness they role model, and their encouragement that instills confidence and self-belief in our students to strive towards their full potential.
World Teachers’ Day commemorates the adoption of the
1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers. It is an opportunity for all of us to reflect on the teachers who have made a difference in our lives and/or the lives of our children.
With World Teachers’ Day falling on a Sunday this year, we hope you will find a meaningful moment this week to say THANK YOU to an influential teacher in your life. Let them know how their efforts and actions have made a positive and lasting impact in your learning journey.
