October 5 is World Teachers’ Day, a global celebration that recognizes the dedication, expertise, and lasting impact of educators. It is an opportunity to honour teachers, past and present, who inspire learning, nurture growth, and help students reach their full potential.
Across our Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB) school communities, we are grateful for the many educators who support the success and well-being of the students and families we serve. Every day, these professionals make a profound difference through their knowledge, encouragement, compassion, and commitment to student achievement. They foster curiosity, build confidence, create meaningful connections, and help students develop the skills they need to thrive in school and beyond.
World Teachers’ Day 2026 commemorates the 60th anniversary of the adoption of the
1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers. UNESCO’s theme this year is “Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing its status and shaping our futures”.
Today and this week, we invite students, families, staff, and community members to take a moment to thank a teacher, past or present, who has made a difference in their lives. A kind word, note of appreciation, or simple acknowledgment can go a long way in recognizing the meaningful and lasting impact teachers have every day.
