5 October 2022 World Teachers' Day poster displaying theme, “The transformation of education begins with teachers”, animated hands joined in the shapes of a graduation cap, pencil, and tablet, as well as logos of UNESCO, ILO, UNICEF, and EIOn World Teachers’ Day, Bluewater District School Board honours the many contributions that our educators make in supporting the learning and growth of our students today to best position them as the leaders of tomorrow.

Since its beginnings in 1994, World Teachers’ Day has occurred annually on October 5.  It is a global opportunity to recognize teachers, both past and present, for the positive impact they have made in our lives.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) works in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and Education International (EI) to promote and raise awareness for World Teachers’ Day.  This year’s poster (see adjacent graphic) reflects their combined efforts.

“The transformation of education begins with teachers” is the theme for World Teachers’ Day 2022.  We reflect on the important roles that our teaching staff fulfill every day in actioning our board mission “To provide a quality education for every student in a safe, accepting, and caring environment.”

Join us on World Teachers’ Day by personally thanking a teacher for their positive influence in the life of you and/or your child.

Bluewater District School Board is located on the traditional land of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, which is represented by the communities of Saugeen First Nation and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation.
