Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB) is dedicated to promoting the principles of equity, inclusion, and human rights as outlined in the Ontario Human Rights Code. Guided by our Multi-Year Strategic Plan, we aim to ensure that every student and staff member learns and works in an environment free from discrimination, harassment, and systemic barriers.

Through equitable practices and an inclusive educational approach, BWDSB acknowledges and addresses the diverse identities, needs, and experiences of our students, staff, and communities. Our goal is to close achievement gaps, foster a sense of belonging, and provide all individuals with the opportunity to reach their full potential.

By integrating human rights and equity into all areas of our work, BWDSB continues to create safe, respectful, and responsive learning environments that reflect our shared values of fairness, dignity, and respect for everyone.
Purpose of the Equity Action Plan (EAP)

Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB) Equity Action Plan reaffirms our commitment to the Ontario Human Rights Code and to creating safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environments for all students and staff.

This plan aims to identify and eliminate systemic barriers, address discrimination and bias, and ensure that every learner has equitable opportunities to succeed. Grounded in our mission “to provide a quality educational experience for every student in a safe and inclusive environment,” the EAP enhances our ongoing efforts to integrate human rights, equity, and inclusion into all aspects of school life.

The plan emphasizes collaboration, accountability, and transparency. It focuses on closing achievement gaps, and supporting marginalized communities, including Indigenous peoples, racialized groups, 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, and students with disabilities, and enhancing cultural understanding through professional development and community partnerships.

By monitoring progress and evaluating outcomes, BWDSB ensures continuous improvement and responsiveness to the needs of students and the community, fostering environments where every individual feels valued, seen, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.
