Community Service/Involvement Hours
Grade 8 students may begin completing their Community Involvement Hours during the summer prior to entering Grade 9.  If it is safe to do so, Grade 8 students, along with Grade 9 to 12 youth, may choose to start earning community services hours virtually, or consider creating a plan to meet this graduation requirement (planning time does not count towards the required 40 hours).  Students are encouraged to find specific volunteer initiatives that support their communities’ response to the COVID-19 outbreak, and these may include remote volunteer opportunities during emergency measures, such as letter-writing campaigns to seniors.

Students under 18 years old should consult with their parents to plan and select their community involvement activities.
Previously, students would receive a record book in June to help them document accumulated hours.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic school closures, record books are not available to distribute.

Additional information will be shared with students in the fall.

Students accumulating volunteer hours should acquire documentation from their supervisor to confirm their experience that will be tracked by the school and count towards the graduation requirement.
