Transitions

The transition into a new school, often a secondary school, is a challenging period for most youth. The Student Success Program has developed certain initiatives that help facilitate the adjustment from elementary to secondary schools.

Transitions

Transition Teachers provide support for students and their families as they transition to new school locations.  Transition teachers, often a Grade 7 or 8 teacher, works with secondary partners including Student Success Contact Teachers and Guidance staff to help with school and course selection, career path choices, education and life planning, along with orientation information.

Link Crew

Link Crew is a program that allows Grade 9 students an opportunity to connect with senior secondary student mentors.  Special events may be planned for orientation and school culture building activities. There are additional activities throughout the school year to support exam preparation, academics and team building among all students.

Bluewater District School Board is located on the traditional land of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, which is represented by the communities of Saugeen First Nation and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation.
