Long Service and Retirement Recognition

It was a celebratory evening with plenty of smiles and a few tears as Bluewater District School Board trustees, staff and family members came together to honour some truly special employees for their dedicated careers in our local education system. This year’s Long Service and Retirement Recognition Reception was held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Saugeen Golf Club in Port Elgin, and included presentations to retirees and those with 25, 30, 35, and even 50 years of service.

Director of Education Alana Murray, who hosted the large group throughout the evening, expressed many thoughts of gratitude to those who have served our students and families through a multitude of roles in Bluewater. Chair Ron Motz was also on hand to bring greetings on behalf of the board, while parting words of wisdom were delivered with humour and care by staff members Brain Flachs (long service) and Darlene Bailey (retirees). Trustees and members of senior staff took turns presenting tokens of appreciation and best wishes to all of the recipients in attendance.

Congratulations and many thanks go out to this year’s retirees and those achieving significant milestones for their years of contributions to excellence in Bluewater!
