Martin Luther King Jr. Day at MCPS

In honour of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 18, 2021, Mrs. Heaney’s Grade 2/3 class at Mildmay-Carrick Public School took on a project to reflect on the activist's strong and powerful legacy. The students learned about King's amazing leadership, what he stood for and accomplished, and the many lessons that he left for all of us to carry on, especially when times are difficult.
The time is always right to do what is right and to “lift others up” as King would say. The MCPS school community knows that the COVID-19 pandemic has hit everyone, everywhere, in some shape or form. However, it should be reiterated how critically important it is to remain together and supportive of one another, and how vitally essential it is to retain a strong sense of community, and to reach out to lift others up and help when we can. MCPS and the wider communities in which we all live in Bruce and Grey are perfect examples of this. School staff continue to thank those who are not only working with the school, but also everyone demonstrating acts of caring and outreach to neighbours, community members, and others who are struggling. Anyone needing a reminder can observe these examples from the young Thunderbolts at MCPS, who can find the goodness everywhere!
