National Indigenous History Month 2022
Posted on 06/01/2022
June is National Indigenous History Month. Bluewater District School Board joins others across Ontario to reflect on and expand learning related to the history, culture, experiences, achievements, and contributions of Indigenous peoples in Canada.
It is another opportunity for us to continue engaging in crucial conversations that focus on truth and reconciliation, and the ways in which we can learn from the past to ensure healing, justice, and equality now and in the future.
We reaffirm our collective commitment to furthering our knowledge and understanding of the ongoing devastating impacts of the residential school system on Indigenous peoples, survivors, families, and communities. We honour and remember them, and think about our important individual roles in the reconciliation process.
