October 6, 2023

With the long weekend upon us, we would like to take a moment to give thanks to the students, staff, families, partners, and communities we serve in Bluewater District School Board.

There is already a lot to be thankful for across our system in the short time that has transpired since the start of the 2023 – 2024 school year.  Incredible stories are being written daily that underscore academic excellence, kindness, social justice, and responsible stewardship.  Just visit any of our board or school social media pages and you will find a myriad of examples of the great things that are happening.

From a system perspective, we are also grateful for the enviable position we find ourselves in as a rural school board.  Our enrolment is healthy and growing at more than 18,500 students.  We are building for the future through new replacement schools in Markdale and approval for a Kincardine build (with other applications in the works), while several other communities are benefiting from expanded child care facilities.

It is an exciting time to be part of Bluewater District School Board.  Our many accomplishments are evidence of the countless individuals invested in making our schools and work sites amazing places to learn, work, grow, and lead together.  Thank you all for the unique contributions that you bring to our education system through your hard work, passion, and support.

We wish you a safe and happy weekend filled with gratitude and time with family and friends.

Jane Thomson Lori Wilder
Chair Director of Education
