Safe Arrival

Ministry of Education and Training Policy/Program Memorandum No. 123 states “A safe arrival program is a system of procedures which are performed together with daily school attendance taking. Parents and guardians are responsible for their children’s safety. Safe arrival programs are a mechanism that parents and schools can use to account for any pupil’s unexplained failure to arrive at school.”

Elementary Roles and Responsibilities
Parents/guardians, students, school staff, school councils and volunteers play distinct roles in the implementation of a Safe Arrival Program. The overall effectiveness, efficiency and economy of the program depend on the way in which each group works cooperatively to fulfill its responsibilities.
